Financial Clarity Built Through Real Conversations

We started marisophente in 2018 because spreadsheets alone weren't cutting it anymore. Business owners needed budget reporting that actually made sense to humans, not just accountants. Seven years later, we're still having those same honest conversations about money.

How This Started

Back in 2018, I was consulting for small businesses around Western Sydney. Same pattern kept showing up. People would get their quarterly financials, nod politely, then ask me what it actually meant for their day-to-day decisions.

The numbers were technically correct. But they weren't useful. Business owners needed to understand cash flow in plain language, not decode accounting jargon at 11pm after a full workday.

So we built something different. Budget reports that start with context, use everyday language, and connect directly to the decisions you're actually making. Turns out a lot of people wanted that same thing.

What Guides Our Work

These aren't motivational poster words. They're how we actually operate when things get complicated.

Plain Language

Financial reports shouldn't require a translator. We write like we're explaining things to our neighbour, because clarity beats credentials every time.

Context First

Numbers mean nothing without the story behind them. We start with where your business is going, then show how the budget supports that direction.

Honest Limits

Some questions take time to answer properly. We'd rather tell you when we need more information than guess and get it wrong.

The People Behind The Reports

Small team. No fancy hierarchy. Everyone here has spent years either running their own business or helping others figure out theirs. We understand deadline pressure and budget stress because we've lived it.

Started in corporate finance, realized I preferred helping businesses directly. Spent twelve years working with SMEs across retail, trades, and professional services. These days I mostly review complex reports and train the team on new client industries.

Our Actual Process

  • We start every relationship with a proper conversation about your business model and current challenges. Not a sales call, an actual working session.
  • Reports get drafted by analysts who specialize in your industry type. Retail businesses get someone who understands retail rhythms and margins.
  • Everything goes through a second review before it reaches you. Fresh eyes catch assumptions that might not apply to your situation.
  • We schedule follow-up calls two weeks after delivery. Questions always come up once you've had time to think through the numbers.
  • Changes to your business model get documented in our system. When your revenue streams shift, your reports adapt automatically.

Let's Talk About Your Numbers

Most initial conversations take about thirty minutes. We'll walk through your current reporting setup, what's working, what's frustrating, and whether our approach makes sense for your business.

No pitch deck. No pressure to sign anything. Just an honest assessment of whether we can actually help. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you that too.
